Corazon R asked:
I wanted to re do my house roof with a spanish tile look and I have no idea how much it costs to do something like that. I don’t want to call a contractor to find out the price. I just want to know about how much it would cost to do that.

Between 3500 and 5000 depending on location. This does not include labor which for the size of house you described would run you between 2500 and 3000 dollars. Also some cities/counties/states require permits for this kind of work. Last but not least is the cost of removing the old roof and disposal of the material which can run upwards of a 1000 or more.

If you do use Spanish tile, you must consider the additional weight. My house is a bit smaller than yours. It was built strong enough to support the tile. After watching the house move around during an earthquake, I weight some pieces and counted the ones on the roof. There was about 50,000 pounds of tile up there. I replaced with a 10,000 pound lightweight metal roof for around $16,000. A large part of that was for removing and hauling away the old tile.
